Biomechanics of running. What we learned 20 years ago has changed.

Here’s short video from a biomechanics lab who studied running in shoes vs barefoot and demonstrate the differences in how we land with and without shoes.  Clearly shoes influence the way we land and force our bodies to land in a non natural way.  Shoes interfere with our ability to shock absorb properly and increase the likelihood of overuse injures when we run.  What I learned in biomechanics 20 years ago while studying athletic training no longer holds true when it comes to evaluating runners and treating their injuries.  This short 3 minute video demonstrates how shoes “steer” us in the wrong direction when running.
