Training plans can help you accomplish your goal, but sometimes running is more fun when you just go out and run! The last 3 marathons I ran I did not follow a structured program. Of course I had a plan as to how much I was running etc, but the point is I listened to my body and tried to run as many miles a day I could without getting injured. Here’s a article from Outside Online that advocated just getting out and moving instead of stating so focused on a running program.
