Despite the popular belief that caffeine is a “diuretic”, I have not adhered to the rule of avoiding coffee before working out for the past twenty years. Why? Well there had never been any scientific literature to prove that it was, and one of my colleagues (head athletic trainer for the Miami Dolphins and long distance runner) had always said “if you drink 20 ounces of water or coffee you’ll have to urinate regardless!!” The aforementioned is 100 percent correct.
