Altra’s shoes are designed to “let you run the way you were born to do.” What began as an experiment that included founder Golden Harper using a toaster oven to alter shoes is led to zero drop shoes complete with a toe box for runners to run naturally.

“Zero Drop was just one of the steps we took to return runners’ feet to their natural position,” Golden says. “The research made it clear that our shoe needed a toe box that actually mirrored the shape of a healthy foot.”

In just a few years, Altra went from unknown to one of the top 10 shoe companies in the U.S. They also have been the presenting sponsor at the Runner’s World Festival for the past years.
