I had the opportunity this morning to run with Jeff Fisher owner of the Cleveland Running Company. The Cleveland Running Company is a running shoe and apparel store located in Shaker Heights, Ohio. For the past three years Jeff and his staff have done an excellent job on educating and fitting runners for shoes. The philosophy of the Cleveland running company is to teach runners proper form and to not rely on stability or motion control shoes. They do a weekly running clinic on Saturday mornings at 8:30 AM as well as have various educational programs throughout the year which are free to the public. One of these courses featured Dr. Mark Cucuzzella from Newton Running and physician in West Virginia. Dr. Mark is well known in the running industry and is an elite marathoner himself. You can watch the videos here on YouTube.
The Cleveland running company is one of the stores I recommend to my patients where they can receive excellent education on running, running form, as well as having a wide selection on minimalist type running shoes.
If you’re ever in the area stop in and see Jeff and his amazing staff or run with them Saturday mornings at 8:30.
Jeff and I ran for two hours this morning and had excellent discussions on how we can help educate the runners as well as physicians in our area on proper running form and how to stop relying on shoes and orthotics to fix injuries. I look forward to working with the Cleveland Running Company this spring and providing education to Cleveland and the surrounding areas.
