Running with the Skins Power A400 Compression Shorts

I tested a pair of compression shorts made by Skins- compression gear company founded in Australia that focuses on gradient compression and dynamic gradient compression gear.  It is based on the theory that by applying compression to specific body parts, you will increase blood flow and in turn increase oxygen to working muscles.

When you apply compression to specific body parts in a balanced and accurate way, it accelerates blood flow. This gets more oxygen to your working muscles – and boosts your performance.
Better blood flow also helps your body to get rid of lactic acid and other metabolic wastes – which helps you work at a higher rate for longer. Plus, improved oxygenation reduces the effects of delayed onset muscle soreness and accelerates muscle repair. So engineered gradient compression and dynamic gradient compression play a big part in helping you recover from exercise too.

With that said, there are many options of compression available. I have been wearing these now for about 5 months and can honestly say they’re really nice.  I have used them as a base layer under my running shorts and they felt really great.  The shorts are manufactured in a process that relies on an A stitch pattern which reduces chaffing.
The material is not elastic but relies on a spandex mix that ensures specific levels of elasticity. Thus the compression will most likely have a longer lifespan. Mine barely look worn and 4 months.
