It’s time to go back to school! Can’t believe how fast the summer went. I remember when I used to pick out my shoes for the upcoming school year – I won’t even bore you all with what I was wearing back then!!

My kids and neighbors are excited to go back in their New Balance Minimus shoes. It’s one of the few options that are available for kids that are truly minimal, flexible, wide, and allows natural foot function and motion. There are a lot of “cool” shoes out there that most young kids would love to wear because they have their favorite action hero or cartoon character on the shoe. The problem is the shoe is stiff as a board and not only inhibits natural foot function but also changes the child’s gait. If you follow the current literate on children and shoe gear, the American Academy of Pediatrics doesn’t recommend placing your children in shoes until they are 6 years old or it is necessitated by the environment in efforts to enhance foot development and strength.
