Break out your party hats and confetti, runners, because tomorrow, June 3, is National Running Day.

For the seventh year in a row, runners will have the opportunity to celebrate the sport any way they choose, be it “by planning a run, spreading the running bug to a friend, signing up for a race, or setting a new goal,” says the event website.

New York Road Runners has partnered with other leading organizations and races in the industry, including the Boston Athletic Association, the Chicago Marathon, Running USA, and the Houston Marathon, to sponsor the day held every year on the first Wednesday since its creation in 2009.

Runners will be encouraged to sound off on social media by using the hashtag #NationalRunningDay and post their response to the fill-in-the-blank sentence: “I run ______.” They can also donate their mileage to charity through the app Charity Miles.

Numerous running stores and groups will host runs and other events to mark the occasion. Here are some of the larger efforts.

Nuun and the motivational running app Motigo have paired up to host a virtual run. Participants will hear inspirational messages from Olympians Kara Goucher and Carrie Tollefson via the app during their run.
Group runs, sponsored in part by Twin Cities in Motion, will be held at the Running Room’s St. Paul and Minneapolis, Minnesota, specialty store locations.
@nyrr and @runnersworld will co-host a Twitter chat from 2-3 p.m. Eastern. Use the hashtag #RunningDayChat to join the conversation.
The Houston Marathon will ask runners to post photos on Facebook from their run for a chance to win a prize.
The Chicago Area Runners Association will host three fun runs throughout the day.
The Atlanta Track Club and the Big Island Running Company will start and finish the day with group runs. In Atlanta, runs will be held at midnight and 6 a.m. Eastern, and in Hawaii, the run will begin at 11:30 p.m. Hawaii Aleutian Standard Time.
The New York Road Runners will host fun runs and other events all day in all five boroughs.
Westin Hotel run concierges will lead runs at more than 20 hotel locations in North America. The hotel will also encourage runners to snap photos from their runs along any of their runWESTIN routes.
The editors of Runner’s World will join the November Project workout in Philadelphia. Participants are asked to bring shoes for donation.
